Author of Sam The Cat, a book of short stories, a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book of the Year, New York Times Notable Book, and a Best Book of the Year in Esquire. Correspondent to GQ Magazine and a contributing writer to The New York Times Magazine. Recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship, Whiting Writer's Award, a National Endowment of the Arts and a PEN/Robert Bingham Award. Working on a new book of fiction and a story for GQ on the Jewish Haredi in Israel.
